About Volunteer Centre Glossop

Glossop VCVolunteer Centre Glossop is a charitable organisation established to enhance the quality of life for the people of Glossop and the High Peak by promoting the value of volunteering and ensuring that volunteer opportunities are available for all, and is committed to providing ongoing training and support for those volunteers.

The Centre also works to identify the unmet social and/or economic needs of the community and to establish projects to meet those needs with a commitment to those projects becoming independent.

Volunteer Centre Glossop, like all volunteer bureaux, places the needs, rights and issues of volunteers at the heart of our activities. Our commitment to ensure volunteering opportunities are available to all translates into the following activities:

  • raising awareness of the benefits of volunteering to both the community and the individual
  • advertising the diversity of volunteering opportunities available
  • helping potential volunteers identify those projects that are of most interest to them
  • helping projects devise good volunteering policies and practices
  • providing training to volunteer using agencies on recruiting / supporting / deploying volunteers
  • providing training for volunteers
  • acting as an advocate for volunteers experiencing difficulties

If you'd like more information on our aims and role, contact Jo Ward the Director.
