Volunteer Centre Glossop aims to enhance the quality of life for the people of Glossop and High Peak by promoting the value of volunteering.
Our organisation has a commitment to YOU as a volunteer. We will provide all the information, support and training you need to make your voluntary work a success and to ensure that the time and effort you are offering benefits others and yourself.
Contact us or visit the Centre in Glossop High Street to talk in person.
What do we do?
The Centre works to identify the unmet social and economic needs of the local community and to establish projects to meet those needs. Through our Time Out and Car Scheme services volunteers help elderly or disabled people to get out of the house, do their shopping, meet friends, socialise, or get to medical appointments.
Hands On! youth workers assists young people to find suitable volunteer placements or establish their own community-focused projects. Volunteers create a weekly Talking Newstape for blind listeners and a self-help group supports Visually Impaired Persons (VIPs).
A variety of practical services and resources are available to support local organisations that involve volunteers, including a meeting room available for hire. You can keep up to date with local and wider developments in volunteering through our newsletter - 'Involvement'.
